About the initiative

Every year hundreds of students pack their things up with heavy hearts, take their degrees and say goodbye to the institute they once called home. While they try to take as many memories with them to their new life, there are some things that they have to leave behind. The bicycles they used for their daily commute, mattresses they used to sleep in, their old textbooks which they heavily read from when exams neared and many other uncountable things.

The bicycles left behind with no one to ride on or take care of, catch rust in the heavy rain and idleness of college. Every once in awhile, we see a cleaning drive to collect these old bicycles that have slowly turned into junk. Why did we allow them to fade away this way? Can they not help the new students, with new hopes and dreams, make new memories again?

Signing off is a non-profit initiative that enables the seniors to pass on certain tokens to their juniors with a message they would like to pass on. Perhaps something that they would like to say to their junior selves? We collect their tokens, store them in a safe place and with the beginning of a new semester, give them to those who want them.

Who is this for?

Signing off is an initiative for the graduating batch willing to donate feasible objects and for their juniors who can benefit from these donations. If you're graduating, and wish to give away something, look to your top right now and Sign up!

This website is for juniors to safely access some of the old school objects for regular use which will help you in your daily commute for free (you heard it right). Right now we are at the phase of collecting those objects from your seniors, but pretty soon, we'll give it away to you, until then, stay tuned!

I'm a senior, how do I drop off these tokens?

After you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email and the contact of your hostel volunteer. Subsequently, this volunteer will slide in stickers and pins into your rooms. Write your messages in those stickers and put them on your tokens. Next you will have to go to the hostel reception and drop these items at the designated area. Be sure to wear your pins with pride, you're officially Signing off now!

I'm a fresher, I need a mattress. How do I get it through Signing off?

When you enter your hostels, kindly ask in the reception for the mattresses. They will guide you to the designated area from where you can pick one off and be on your way.

I'm a junior, I need a cycle. How do I get it through Signing off?

The cycles will be distributed as soon as the next semester starts. You can sign up for it by filling the 'Sign up juniors' form (keep an eye out). To ensure no disparity, we are limiting the tokens to 1 cycle per junior.

We will email you about the upcoming distribution day and venue as soon as it's decided. You can then take the cycles from the designated area on first come first serve basis. However you're not allowed to resell the cycles. This is to ensure that nobody misuses the initiative for their personal benefit. We hope you understand.

What is so unique about Signing off?

We not only pass on objects, we pass on memories. We will provide you a custom sticker and pins for each item you donate. Here, you can write whatever you wish to say to the junior who gets your items. Better make that gyaan count!

We are not from IIT Guwahati. How do we join to organise this in our college?

It's simple, fill the contact form below and we'll reach out.

Who are we?

We're two graduating college students, much like yourself, our names are Agrata and Shivank. Throughout our 4 years of college, we saw our seniors graduating and passing us some of their cherished things. We admit that not all of the seniors were involved and some just left it by the door of their rooms, the same things which can be used by the freshers coming next semester. Now before we graduate, we want each senior to leave behind a token that can make someone else's college life more fruitful.

We're one cheery lot and you can contact us directly if you need any sort of help.
